Dr. Sean Kevin Roden is a board-certified physician, former NASA Flight Surgeon, ER attending physician, and expert in both functional medicine and aesthetic health whose career has spanned some of the most demanding environments. With nearly three decades of medical service across aerospace, wilderness, emergency and preventive medicine, Dr. Roden brings a rare depth of knowledge and leadership to our clinic. From Antarctica to the International Space Station, his journey has redefined what’s possible in human health and his medical legacy is backed by a remarkable track record of clinical leadership and human impact. As a NASA Flight Surgeon, he was entrusted with the critical responsibility of safeguarding astronaut health—navigating complex challenges that required zero margin for error. His responsibilities included managing wellness for the International Space Station, educating the next generation of medical explorers, and contributing to groundbreaking research in aerospace health. Dr. Roden has received 182 Honors and Awards recognizing leadership in medical science and human performance, been on 135 research expeditions uncovering the future of diagnostics and treatment, and guided more than 4000 patients through personalized wellness journeys. He holds: Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology – The University of Texas Master of Science in Genetics – The University of Texas–Permian Basin (1990) He received his M.D. in 1994 from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas,[7] where he was chief resident from 1996 to 1997. In 2002, he obtained his Master of Public Health and completed an aerospace medicine fellowship at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston.
